For Those Who Believe, Christ Is Still King, and the King Is with Us

"But my message to a watching world right now is simple: John 3:16 will remain true long after the Trump reelection prophecies are forgotten. Don't confuse what is written in the Word with some alleged prophetic words,” Dr. Michael Brown writes

I am really glad that Dr. Brown wrote all of this down.

I really need to get this out there to this prophetic, praying community of Believers in the Body of Christ in particular, but I share these words to the world at large, too. There is too much interest in prophecies on the earth, and not enough interest in our Savior, Jesus Christ. There is too much interest in the words that are spoken by man in prophetic spirit, and not enough in the WRITTEN WORD of God. I am aware of godly men who declared that Trump would help turn the United States back to God. Indeed, I believe that God was able to use Trump in this fashion. I can think of no president in modern times who so boldly declared Jesus Christ to a fallen world.

However, I think too many people in Christendom, whether in the United States or elsewhere in the world, were looking to Trump to be an ongoing savior in our troubled times. No man can do that. It has bothered me a great deal that there is so much attachment to all of these prophecies about Trump and everything that he would do. I think too many pastors and preachers got this notion that our victory would be wrapped up in this elected official.

First of all, we have read the Book, and we know that we win. In fact, we have already won: "We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37). Pastor Jeff Chong of Hope Singapore ministered this theme in 2020 to his church: "Christ Has Won!" In Him, we have (present tense) the victory. This revelation has to be the guiding light for every believer in the Body of Christ. We do not assess victory based on which candidate gets elected to office. We assess victory based on the fact that the Lord Jesus conquered death, and in Him we reign in life (Romans 5:17).

For those who believe in Jesus, it really doesn’t matter who is president of the United States. For the Body of Christ, for us, for our households, because we serve the LORD, we are blessed! In the midst of the most pressing persecution, we know that our Redeemer lives (Job 19:25).

When I see so much failure and destruction in the world, if I wonder what will happen when my candidate for office doesn’t win, I refer back to Genesis 26. In that account, we witness God’s chosen man Isaac thriving in the midst of his worst enemies, the Philistines. That is the portion of God’s people today, because we are all children of the New Covenant, blessed by the grace of God, because of all that Jesus has done, is doing, and will continue to do for us, in us, and through us. There may be famine in the land, but our citizenship is of heaven (Philippians 3:20).

Now, I will write more specifically regarding what has happened in the United States, and with the Body of Christ in the United States.

There has been too much politics, or rather too much politicking in the pulpit. The church needs to be above all of that. The pulpit is about JESUS, not Joe Biden, not Donald Trump, not a political party. Yes, the Church is called to be Salt and Light in a fallen world, but we don’t stop being salt or light just because of an unforeseen or an unwelcome election outcome.

Jesus is not a means to an end, and that includes electoral victory. When Joshua met the pre-incarnate Jesus as "The Captain of the Hosts" while the Israelites were possessing their possessions in the Promised Land, he asked Him whose side He was on. Jesus answered: "And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?" (Joshua 5:14)

Jesus does not pick sides. He takes over! He has already won! And we are winners in Him! For those who believe in Him, they need to know that He is on our side! In fact, Jesus came to this earth to fulfill and ensure that He is on our side: God with us! "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

And one last thing about prophecies regarding temporal matters on this earth:

"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away." (1 Corinthians 13:8)

The Body of Christ around the world needs to walk in the truth: we are kings and priests in Christ Jesus (Revelation 1:6), and even after we exercise our responsibilities as citizens in our own countries, we need to understand that even if the outcomes we sought did not come to pass, it was never about protecting our interests, for the LORD is our Shepherd. He has our interests fully taken care of. We participate in civil engagement because we want to encourage others to make wise decisions for themselves and for their country. Hey, if bad people get elected, it's going to harm them, but it's not going to harm us:

"A thousand may fall at my side, and ten thousand at my right hand, but it will not come near you." (Psalm 91:7)

Christ is on our side, for those who believe in Him. He more than proved that when He died on the Cross, and He still demonstrates that to this day, as He sits at the right hand of the Father. (Ephesians 1:20)
