The Jacob Blake Case Isn’t About Race

It's the latest excuse to burn down another American city. On August 23, 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times by police. This is the only part of the story members of the leftist media bothered to report. Deliberately leaving out the entire story, so-called "journalists" once again heaped their bias, opinions and emotions onto the case, declaring "yet another black man" has been killed for "no reason" in America.

This, of course, fueled a false narrative that anarchists and agitators feed off of for their mass destruction.

"In Kenosha, we are not accustomed to riots," Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said in distress during a recent news conference, proving a violent and unwarranted response can happen anywhere.

"Spent the last 36 hours walking around Kenosha in a daze. Large swathes of the city are indistinguishable from a war zone. The destruction in places is total, the locals dazed, shocked and trying to be brave," a Sunday Times reporter tweeted about the destruction.

But the facts about what happened and why the police arrived at all, which reporters are supposed to fully present to the American public, tell another story.

The police didn't target Blake because he is Black. The police showed up to confront Blake after a woman called 911. She said Blake was on her property, that he wasn't supposed to be there and that he had stolen her keys. It turns out, Blake had been at the woman's house before, was violating a restraining order, had sexually assaulted her earlier in the summer and at the time of his arrival had multiple warrants out for his arrest. These warrants included third-degree sexual assault and criminal trespassing.

"The victim, who is only identified by her initials in the paperwork, told police she was asleep in bed with one of her children when Blake came into the room around 6 a.m. and allegedly said, 'I want my sh*t,' the record states. She told cops Blake then used his finger to sexually assault her, sniffed it and said, 'Smells like you've been with other men,' the criminal complaint alleges," the New York Post reports about the woman's previous encounter with Blake in her home, with her child present. "The officer who took her statement said she 'had a very difficult time telling him this and cried as she told how the defendant assaulted her.' The alleged victim said Blake' penetrating her digitally caused her pain and humiliation and was done without her consent' and she was 'very humiliated and upset by the sexual assault.'"

When police arrived, Blake's belligerence got worse. Upon arrival, police knew about Blake's record and the warrants. To no avail, they attempted to subdue him with tasers. They screamed, "Drop the knife!" as Blake continued to ignore commands. He then attempted to reach into a vehicle with two of his children in the back seat, which is when he was shot by police. A knife was then found on the driver's side floorboard.

Despite the facts, the media continued their false narrative. When President Trump visited Kenosha to survey the damage and provide federal relief to business owners and local law enforcement, they berated him for not meeting with Blake's family.

The Jacob Blake case isn't about race. It's about a woman who called the police when a dangerous man, who had assaulted her before, refused to leave her home. Because the Black Lives Matter narrative is more useful to Democrats and their allies in the media at this time than standing up for women victimized by criminal men, the experience of a woman who was repeatedly terrified by Blake has been ignored. Former Vice President Joe Biden has called for the police who protected that woman to be charged with a crime and has upheld Blake as a martyr. Adding insult to injury, a city and the dreams of those who live within it have been destroyed.
