“Cuba Dreading Trump Re-election, says Diplomat;” reads an AFP headline this week. “The re-election of Donald Trump as president of the United States would be "the worst" scenario for Cuba, Havana's top diplomat in charge of relations with Washington told AFP. "If the Republicans win ... it's a very negative scenario," said Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, the foreign ministry's general director for the US. "It would mean at least a continuation of the policy of aggression against our country."
Let’s translate “policy of aggression,” as used in Castroite parlance (which is often parroted word for word by the Democrat/Fake News Media Complex) into sensible English: “protecting the U.S. taxpayer from further depredations by the Castro-Family-Crime-Syndicate, and eschewing to subsidize a Stalinist, terror-sponsoring, drug-running regime.”
There. That’s better. To their credit, the Trump campaign was quick to pick up on this terror-sponsor endorsement for the Biden ticket: “China isn’t the only communist regime that would like to see Joe Biden in the White House. This weekend, the Cuban government announced its endorsement of Joe Biden, expressing hope that President Trump will lose in November.”
It’s a very old story, this Castroite endorsement of Democrats, that is:
“If I were a U.S. citizen I'd vote for Obama for president!" squealed Raul Castro’s daughter Mariela Castro during a visit to San Francisco in the summer of 2012. "I think he is sincere, I think he speaks from the heart."

“Hillary Clinton is our only hope of detaining barbarism!…The only hope of defeating Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton…the difference between the two candidates is vast. Barack Obama did not exaggerate when he claimed that she was better prepared to be a U.S. president than even he was—or was her husband Bill Clinton….In any nation of the world–and even in the U.S. during normal times–Donald Trump would find himself either in prison or in a mental institution!” (Stalinist Cuba’s KGB-founded and mentored media organ Cuba debate, Oct 15, 2016.)
As of last September, by the way, Mariela, along with other members of her historically criminal family, are banned from setting foot in the U.S.
Rewinding the historical record a few decades we get: "We'd better hope Kennedy wins this election," Fidel Castro confided to a subaltern in 1960. "If Nixon wins our revolution won't last." The Bay of Pigs and Missile Crisis betrayals (of free Cubans) vindicated Castro's foresight a thousand times over.
A few months back when Bernie Sanders hailed some aspects of Castroism many were shocked, forgetting that such hailing is a mainstream Democratic habit. To wit:
“Fidel Castro first and foremost is and always has been a committed egalitarian. He wanted a system that provided the basic needs to all -- enough to eat, health care, adequate housing and education. Cuba has superb systems of health care and universal education. We greeted each other as old friends. (Jimmy Carter, often hailed as “the Elder Statesman” of the Democratic Party.)
Now here’s the late Democratic senator and presidential candidate George McGovern also known as “The Conscience” of the Democratic Party: “Fidel Castro is very shy and sensitive, I frankly like him and regard him as a friend.”
Now here’s Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio: “I also think it’s well known that there’s some good things that happened (in Cuba) -- for example, in health care.”
Now over to Democratic presidential candidate Jesse Jackson: “Viva Fidel!—Viva Che! Long live our cry of freedom!”
In fact, for many prominent Democrats, the Castroite Cuba resembles the Land of Oz, with Cubans laughing the days away - “ha-ha-ha! ho-ho-ho! and a couple of tra-la-las!” If this sounds hyperbolic, here’s “Conscience of the Democratic Party” George McGovern after a visit to Cuba in 1975: “Everywhere we were surrounded by laughing children who obviously loved Fidel.”
Then there is late Frank Mankiewicz, a lifelong Democratic factotum who served as campaign chairman for presidential candidate George McGovern, press secretary for Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and head of NPR from 1977 to 1983. Mankiewicz was greatly impressed by “the enthusiasm and unity of the Cuban people: “they are proud of their accomplishments and sing songs about themselves and their country that reflect this self-pride.”
“In 1959 everybody was totally convinced that Fidel Castro was the worst guy in the world and all of the Cuban people were going to rise up in rebellion against Fidel Castro…They forgot that he educated their kids, gave their kids healthcare, totally transformed the society…..So they expected this tremendous uprising in Cuba, but it never came," said Bernie Sanders.
“The countries like Cuba or Canada or Russia or a lot of places in this world spend half what we spend per capita and they got better health outcomes than we do,” claimed deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee Rep. Keith Ellison.
And that affinity, by the way, has been amply reciprocated:
"Jesse Jackson is a great personality, a brilliant man with a great talent, capable of communicating with people, very persuasive, reliable, honest. Jackson's main characteristic is honesty. He is sincere and there is not a single bit of demagoguery in his conversations," Fidel Castro once proclaimed.
Given his sharp business sense and clear-eyed patriotism, it’s small wonder President Trump never fell for the liberal/libertarian/Farm-lobby/Castroite scam about how “ending the embargo” (i.e. showering the Castro Family-Crime-Syndicate with U.S. taxpayer dollars) would—VOILA!—magically transform Cuba into a Caribbean Singapore.
You’d never guess this from the Cuba “reporting” by the Fake News Media but the reason for the Cuba embargo in the first place was Castro’s mass theft, at Soviet gunpoint, of almost 6,000 businesses in Cuba worth $9 billion (in current dollars) from U.S. citizens. A few American business owners who resisted were tortured and murdered.
The Inter-American Law Review classifies Castro’s mass burglary of U.S. property as “the largest uncompensated taking of American property by a foreign government in history.” Rubbing his hands and snickering in triumphant glee, Castro boasted at maximum volume to the entire world that he was freeing Cuba from “Yankee economic slavery!” (Che Guevara’s term, actually) and that “he would never repay a penny!” (this was the only promise Fidel Castro kept in his life!)
In fact, in his “aggressions” against Cuba, President Trump is simply upholding U.S. law. Let’s turn to a section of the Cuba “embargo” (Helms-Burton Act) as codified into U.S. law. Here’s Sec. 207, Settlement of Outstanding U.S. Claims to Confiscated Property in Cuba:
“The satisfactory resolution of property claims by a Cuban Government recognized by the United States remains an essential condition for the full resumption of economic and diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba.”
But Castro’s apparatchiks laughed in the faces of Obama’s sniveling and apologetic 'negotiators' when they meekly tried broaching this “essential condition.” No matter. Obama flaunted U.S. law and “opened” to Cuba anyway.
“Helms-Burton Act,” by the way, refers to its authors, the late great Jesse Helms of North Carolina and the great Dan Burton of Indiana. The latter is shown here in an apparently delighted frame of mind while holding a signed book he patiently stood in line to obtain.
