There isn’t a week that goes by where liberals don’t find new ways to demonstrate just how awful they are and why they should not be anywhere near the levers of power. This week has been full of so many examples that it’s worth looking at a few.
When Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen was fired the sharks immediately started swarming. Think what you will of how she did on the job, there was definitely a lot of room for improvement, she’s an American who served in government who deserves to return to private life just like anyone else. But liberals are plotting to do everything they can make sure she, and any other America who dares to work for President Donald Trump, can’t.
Leftists had already started contacting companies to blacklist administration officials because fascists don’t wait, they prepare. Fellow travelers in the media were all too eager to help spread the word, to put companies on notice that protests and boycotts were awaiting them should they ever dare to hire someone the liberal mob does not like.
Jeffrey Toobin, CNN’s “chief legal analyst,” jumped on the smear bandwagon, warning, “Kirstjen Nielsen is a great example of what happens when you go to work for Donald Trump.” Toobin, oddly, knows about reputations because his is still intact even though he’s alleged to have offered his mistress, a colleague’s daughter, money to get an abortion. Apparently, he didn’t think his wife would appreciate it too much. When the girlfriend refused, Toobin reportedly told her “she was going to regret it, that she shouldn't expect any help from him,” according to New York Daily News. He had to be ordered to pay child support, but it’s Nielsen whose reputation he’ll judge.
This is how liberals work – one set of standards for themselves, one for everyone else. And they will forever work to punish people for the “crime” of not submitting to their will. Mention Ronald Reagan to a committed liberal and watch them convulse with rage that he ever existed. He’s been dead for 15 years, out of office for 30, yet that he was still infuriates them. The same fate awaits every Trump administration official or anyone associated with him or his family.

It is as disgusting as it is unsurprising.
Ilhan Omar, the well-known anti-Semite and freshman Democratic Congresswoman, makes the list this week, in part for her declaration that “Stephen Miller is a white nationalist.” Miller is Jewish, which might have something to do with Omar’s hatred of him, so proclaiming him a “white nationalist” is particularly hilarious. Not that she’d let something like reality bother her.
But it’s not just her Tourette’s-like radar for hating Jews, but the casual way in which she referred to the September 11th terror attacks. “Some people did something,” she told a group at a Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) fundraiser. It’s hard to say what they did, or why, but know that these random people woke up one morning and decided to do whatever it was they did and, as a result, “all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” she told the group.
Did you ever think you’d live to hear a member of Congress refer to the murder of 3,000 Americans like it was a trip to the mall to buy underwear?
She doesn’t mention which civil liberties she and her audience lost, mostly because there aren’t any, but she thinks she’s the real victim in all this “something” that happened.
For her history of anti-Semitism, general bigotry, and hair-trigger to claim victim status, Omar was awarded with the cover of Newsweek for “changing the conversation” on Israel among Democrats. She changed it alright, from supporting our closest ally and only democracy in the Middle East to advocating for the first steps of its destruction. But the progressive magazine doesn’t care, there is very little deviation on the issue remaining on the left. In another generation, all support of Israel from the left will be gone.
Granted, this does not mean what it once did; Newsweek has become less popular with the American public than old copies of Highlight Magazine, both of which seem only to be read out of desperation in dentist office waiting rooms. But still.
Then there’s “Mayor Pete,” Democratic 2020 hopeful and South Bend, Indiana, mayor Pete Buttigieg. The least interesting and least important part of who he is as a candidate is that he’s gay, but it’s the only thing that differentiates him from the rest of the Democratic field.
The current flavor of the month of Democrats is scrambling to keep the favorable media spotlight, something previous title holders Beto O’Rourke, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren haven’t been able to do. Since they all advocate for the same policies, he’s trying to differentiate himself from the rest of the pack by starting a fight with Vice President Mike Pence.
Everyone else, including “Mayor Pete,” are attacking President Trump. But Buttigieg is using his sexual orientation to paint himself as a victim of the VP’s “bigotry,” because Pence is a devout Christian. The only problem is Mike Pence has never said a negative word about the man.
But facts don’t matter when you’re desperate for attention. Buttigieg, while claiming to be a Christian himself, spent the week criticizing the faith of the vice president. I’m not a religious scholar on the differences between various Christian denominations, but I’ve never heard of a strain of Christianity that calls for the questioning of the sincerity of the faith of others.
That leaves opportunism as the only rationale for Buttigieg’s bogus attacks, which makes them even more pathetic. To weaponize your own faith is one thing, to weaponize it against someone else’s, someone who has only ever been nice to you, is a new level of disgusting.
The media was only too happy to play along with Buttigieg’s bogus narrative. CNN’s take was titled, “Feud between Pete Buttigieg and Mike Pence escalates.” Pence has literally never said a negative word about the man compared to the string of positive things he’s said, while Buttigieg smears Pence’s faith and CNN calls it a “feud.” Don’t feuds have to involve two people fighting, not one-sided, unprovoked attacks? Or at least some kind of response to “escalate”? Not when you want it to be true, apparently.
These are but three examples of people doing and saying truly awful things to people for the simple reason that they disagree with them politically. As the 2020 elections get closer, there will be a lot more of this and it will get worse. Truly awful people don’t just dabble in what they are.
