The New Black Male Can Be Conservative

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Last week I wrote about my sympathies with the black community, especially the black male community, that has been and remains under siege in an America. Both political parties seem destined to misunderstand the historic wrongs committed in the African American community - especially those wrongs done to the black male.

On the one hand, Democrats seem more intent on buying votes than in creating jobs for blacks or security for families. They stoke the hurts that have characterized white-black relations for 300 years at the expense of families. On the other hand, Republicans seem to have turned deaf, dumb and blonde to a community, were it not black, they’d be trolling for votes like crazy because of the obviously poor policy choices Democrats make.

Of course I made both sides mad, as I usually do on race relations, because I refuse to trim or pander. I would be a black radical if I were a black male. I would be a black radical conservative that is.

Jobs and opportunity are what most people want, including black males. And if the GOP and the Dems are too stupid to see it, perhaps we should dispense with both parties.

So: Both sides are stupid.

The Democrats are stupid for following policies that don’t help and Republicans are stupid for not making headway in a constituency that really lacks leadership.

Sharpton, Jackson and Obama?

Please. We are losing to THOSE guys.

How stupid can we be?

Pretty darn stupid, apparently; nationally stupid.

Our national stupidity is on full display in the Washington Post’s latest attempt to get behind a really bad idea as a substitute for policies that would actually help blacks.

Titled Michael Brown petition has 100,000 signatures; the White House must respond, the WaPost blog “In the Loop” says a petition created by activists proposes legislation that would require all police to wear cameras—called tentatively the “Mike Brown law.”

Due to the latest accounts of deadly encounters with police, We the People, petition for the Mike Brown Law. Create a bill, sign into law, and set aside funds to require all state, county, and local police, to wear a camera. The law shall be made in an effort to not only detour police misconduct (i.e. brutality, profiling, abuse of power), but to ensure that all police are following procedure, and to remove all question, from normally questionable police encounters. As well, as help to hold all parties within a police investigation, accountable for their actions.

“Normally questionable police encounters”?

Huh?

There are literally tens of thousands of police stops every day that routinely benefit the community. Chicago, reeling under an epidemic of murder, could use more policing. So could most cities. Ask law abiding black residents in and around Obama's Hyde Park if they want more police.

But putting cameras on police for the benefit of the black community benefits no one but the camera makers, the nescient police state, the nanny staters and those who want to make hay over picayune matters of police procedure.

If I want to record a police stop, I have my own camera and so does everyone else. So, thanks for thinking of me, but no thanks.

I’ve already given up enough of my rights, my fortune and my honor to satisfy the hobgoblins of liberal truth, justice and the American Way—people who’d rather be intellectually lazy, emotionally dishonest and politically opportunistic than actually solve race problems in America; people who would rather put cameras on cops than hire more cops. I’ve already suffered enough at the hands of square-box thinking from Republicans who seem to be utterly clueless as to how to sell the clearly superior solutions conservatives can bring to the African American community.

And so has black America.

You want to restore America, my conservative friends?

Then it starts with rebuilding the black male in the black community  -not videotaping cops.

Because make no mistake: Obama’s election is inconceivable without first understanding the historic wrongs the country has foisted on a community that has never enjoyed the protection a family can give them.

Taking back America starts with taking back black America from those like Michelle Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson; those who stoke the hurts that have characterized white-black relations for 300 years. Getting America right means extending opportunity to all, and breaking the shackles that keep African Americans in thrall to liberals with silly ideas posing as sophistication.

You want to protect America from another Obama? Then start with protecting blacks from him, from the camera makers, the nescient police state, nanny staters and those who want to make hay over picayune matters of police procedure.

Anything else would just be stupid.

So, yeah, never mind.
