The Blood of Innocents

America MUST stop funding those who shed innocent blood!

Job said, “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me” (Job 3:25). Indeed, that can be said of what is happening in Egypt right now. I went on the record at the beginning of the so-called “Arab Spring” and stated that the changes we were watching would result in nothing but hostility and persecution for Christians and non-Islamists in my country of birth. And sure enough, the mayhem and the carnage we see this week perpetrated by the Egyptian military upon peaceful Christian demonstrators is this prediction being fulfilled before our very eyes.

The military junta is never going to relinquish its power. Those leaders have control over a vast amount of industrial machinery, and they will never surrender it to a civilian government. The only reason they turned on one of their own, former President Hosni Mubarak, was because Mubarak’s sons went into competition with the military investment establishment. That caused them to turn on the one who put them in power. Their financial stake is why they will never surrender their power.

It is also important to note that members of the military council are afraid of their own conscripts, the army rank and file, who are either out-and-out Islamists or Islamist sympathizers. Thus, when the army opened fire on unarmed Christian civilians on Sunday night, they knew their generals would never have the guts to punish them. Otherwise, they would have a mutiny on their hands.

But there’s an American tragedy in this. Namely, that our tax dollars are funding the bottomless pit of the Egyptian army’s industrial establishment. Our tax-payer dollars have made these generals multi-millionaires. Therefore, we are partially responsible for the shedding of the blood of innocent civilians.

We need to ensure that not one single dollar more is appropriated to empower this despotic operation. This needs to be a non-partisan effort because both Republicans and Democrats are equal culprits when it comes to funding these power-hungry generals. Both parties handed billions of dollars to the Egyptian army, whose hands are now stained with innocent blood.

This is why I am asking every true freedom-loving American, regardless of political affiliation or persuasion, to jam the switchboards at the House, the Senate and the White House and demand:

“NO MORE DOLLARS FOR THE GENERALS IN EGYPT!”

May God have mercy on these Washington politicians if they do not respond to the cry of their constituents, otherwise their electorate will not have mercy on them in the next election.
