The Left Will Never Give Up Global Warming

Here is an interesting quote:

"Snows are less frequent and less deep. They often do not lie below the mountains more than one, two, or three days and very rarely a week. They are remembered to be formerly frequent, deep, and of long continuance. The elderly inform me that the earth used to be covered with snow about three months every year. The rivers, which then seldom failed to freeze over in the course of the winter, scarcely ever do now. This change…in the spring of the year is very fatal to fruits…I remember that when I was a small boy, say 60 years ago, snows were frequent and deep in every winter."

Well, that's it, isn't it? Global warming is a reality. The Left has won. Not so much snow now as 60 years ago—proof positive that the Earth has been warming, and will continue to do so. We'd better do as the Left says and immediately begin changing everything so that we won't all be toast by the year 2100. Let's drive electric cars, eat bugs, and never use oil again.

A major problem with that thesis is that the above quote is from Thomas Jefferson in the year 1799. History shows us that there was, indeed, a definite warming trend in the 18th century that lasted several decades, and couldn't possibly have anything to do with "fossil fuels" because the Industrial Revolution had barely begun by 1799. Jefferson didn't try to explain the warming trend in his century, and he certainly didn't blame it on man. He knew better.

The Left isn't going to give up global warming, folks. I read this recently on X (from Libs of TikTok): "Massachusetts Democrats move to limit miles people can drive because of climate change. SB226 introduces by State Senator Cindy Creen (D) can limit people's personal car use and mileage they are allowed to drive." Hopefully, the Massachusetts assembly will have more sense than to pass this, but that body is dominated by Democrats who care nothing about truth, so don't be surprised if this supreme act of tyranny becomes law in the state that led the American Revolution of the 1770s.

My, how times have changed.

Global warming, for those who really know and understand it, is not about the climate, and never has been. The Earth has warmed and cooled, off and on, all through its history.

There has basically been a long-term warming trend since the Ice Age; that is obvious because much of North America, even into the current United States, was covered in ice that has long since retreated. So, the temperature tendency over the past several thousand years has been gradually upward. But that fluctuates.

Historians are aware of a warming period during Roman times (from approximately 250 B.C. to 400 A.D.), and the Medieval Warming period about 1,000 years ago (from approximately 900 to 1300), depending on location. That was followed by the "Little Ice Age" that hit the world for a few hundred years, with spurts of heating like in Jefferson's 18th century. The temperature has been on a slow rise—very slow—over the past two centuries as well, with again, bursts of cold. We well remember that scientists and journalists were predicting a new "ice age" in the 1950s to 1970s. But that changed in the 1980s as the ice didn't come.

Two major events caused the current "global warming-climate change" trend. One, the need for the Left to find a new totalitarian movement after the Soviet Union came crashing down in glorious failure in the late 1980s-early 1990s. The leftists did not give up their Marxist, totalitarian religion and dream; not by a long shot. They simply changed colors, from red to green. The environmental movement, centered in the liberal parties of the West, became one home for the Marxists.

The second, and most devastating, catastrophe was the takeover of the media and education systems by the Left. They, as we know and bemoan, have the schools, and thus, their crass, godless, anti-human, anti-freedom ideology has swept Western Civilization. It's massive, and the Democratic Party has ridden the wave to its current position. Politicians care about nothing but power; environmentalism and "global warming" became a major part of the ideology of the Left, and hence the Democratic Party.

Global warming is not, and never has been, about the environmental destruction of the planet. As noted, all through history, there have been warming and cooling periods, and man and "fossil fuels" had absolutely nothing to do with such previous fluctuations. Like in Jefferson's 18th century; a warming trend. It happens. History says so. But we, and especially the Left, know or care nothing about history.

Global warming has always been an attempt to get more money from taxpayers, impoverishing people to make them submissive, and keep them cowed, ignorant, and dependent upon government. And also to give more power and money to politicians; the two go hand-in-hand, of course. That's all global warming has ever been about. Governments, which have always wanted more power, have ever tried to find ways to enhance their control. As one Muslim ruler of India once said, "The Hindus will never become submissive and obedient until they are reduced to poverty" (attributed to the Sultan of Delhi, 5 Ala-ud-din Khalji, reigned 1296–1316). The battle between liberty and tyranny is as old as man and government, and "global warming" is simply one more manifestation of it.

So, Massachusetts wants to tell its citizens how many miles they can drive their cars each year. That's a perfect illustration of "climate change" being used in the war of liberty vs. tyranny. It's exactly what we expect.
