The latest jobs report from the White House surpassed expectations. In a press release last week, the Trump Administration showed that jobs in the private sector are up and government jobs are down. This development is positive for the U.S. economy as a whole and, importantly, benefits American families. For the first time in years, moms can see a future with greater opportunity for their children. We are in an economy that is growing and improving. Parents can more easily provide for daily living expenses and investment in the future. As moms, we feel pride in a strong economy that supports the most important asset in our nation: our children.

The recent jobs growth is no accident. With the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and other strategic moves, the Trump Administration has attacked government fraud and waste with unprecedented fury and incentivized growth in the private sector. As the recent jobs report shows, government jobs are down 42,000, while private sector jobs expanded by 172,000.

The movement away from government spending means more productive work in the economy at large and less wasteful government spending. Simply reducing wasteful government spending saves American taxpayers billions of dollars annually, an estimated $1,335.40 per taxpayer. American families want their dollars invested in their communities, not pilfered on the latest Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative dreamed up by government bureaucrats.

How are there so many new jobs? After years of “Bidenflation,” we were almost used to bad news. Where did all the positive developments come from? What we are witnessing is the result of deliberate action to return skilled jobs to United States soil, incentivize business development and expansion, and keep American dollars in our country instead of going abroad.

Tariffs caused industry disruptions in 2025, but we are now starting to see the real and significant benefits. In our nation’s history, before the Internal Revenue Service filled its coffers by skimming off our paychecks, tariffs were the primary means of revenue for the federal government.

Tariffs bring money to the United States, but that is not all. By imposing tariffs on foreign imports, we can encourage domestic production. Small business owners will tell you that it is impossible to manufacture many goods without resorting to Chinese materials or production. If we want truly “American-made,” we need to bring industry and manufacturing talent back to our shores, and tariffs are a way to encourage this.

Many people grumbled about the economic disruption caused by tariffs, but already, we are starting to see improvement and development. If we stay the course, we are likely to see noticeable gains in household income through growth in skilled trades, wages, and decreased domestic taxes. When our hard-earned dollars are not going abroad, we all benefit.

Job growth and tariffs aren’t the only good news for American families. Importantly, wages are up. Not only are people working more, but their pay is reflecting the changing economic conditions after years of runaway inflation. The White House press release noted, “In President Trump’s second term, average weekly earnings have grown by 4.3% and average hourly earnings have increased by 3.7%.” Those increases can mean the difference between paying a family’s monthly bills or struggling. With wage increases, families might start saving for a down payment on a house, be able to afford extracurricular activities, or even be open to having more children when before it might have felt impossible.

The Trump Administration is doing a lot more for the American family than helping parents stay employed at higher wages. As important as that is, the Trump Administration has put its money where its mouth is by investing in the future of our children. The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) of last July made permanent the increase to the Child Tax Credit. Now valued at $2,200 per child, the Child Tax Credit will increase each year with inflation.

In addition, OBBB created Trump Accounts, part of a temporary program in which the federal government will contribute $1,000 for children born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028. If we want to say our priority is our children and the future, nothing communicates that like making having and raising children easier. Far from a drain, this forward-thinking legislation is an investment in the American people.

What we can say is: “It’s good to be back!” For four years under Former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, we watched our economy flounder and confidence in our nation fall to an all-time low. With the second Trump term, we are seeing economic policies that put American families first. The moms I talk to every day already see the results and are encouraged. With increased job opportunities and prospects for domestic manufacturing, moms have more options to support their families. Child tax credits offer tangible support to the hard-working families who make our economy possible. Reducing blatant government waste and fraud brings pride to American households. Who benefits in the Trump economy? American families.
