Why Leftist Film Societies Cancelled Nuremburg

This is the time of year when most film societies across America and around the world choose their favorite pictures, actors, directors, cinematographers, etc. If you visit the sites of the National Society of Film Critics, Critics' Choice, the Los Angeles Film Critics, the New York Film Critics Circle, or the Golden Globes, you will encounter an array of selections.

Notably missing from all of them is the 2025 movie Nuremberg. This movie features an all-star cast, led by Oscar winners Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring and Rami Malek as a prison psychologist. Supported by Michael Shannon, Nuremberg works well on many levels. The film is appropriately long, offering insights into World War II and the aftermath, which should never be forgotten.

Like Reaganin 2024, which movie-goers lavishly praised while critics savaged it, Nuremberg has been thoroughly ignored by the prominent film societies. It did not receive a single nomination in any category. Why the complete shutout?

To the Left, All Protests Are About Donald Trump

First, the backdrop: as we all know, the fakestream Western media is dead-set against Donald Trump, the Trump Administration, and all of its accomplishments.

Dozens, if not hundreds, of times daily, Trump is labeled as Hitler by major media outlets. Some imply he literally is Hitler. I guess they mean via reincarnation since Trump was born roughly 14 months after Hitler’s demise.

The claim “Trump is Hitler” thoroughly disrespects the 60 to 80 million people who perished in World War II, many at the direction of Adolf Hitler. One cannot begin to address the insensitivity, ignorance, and zealousness of those making or believing the claim.

The Granddaddy of Slogans

The despicable claim has so permeated Western, Leftist-dominated cultures that it rivals great advertising slogans: Breakfast of champions. Obey your thirst. Because you're worth it. Avis tries harder. Fly the friendly skies. Think outside the bun. Like a good neighbor. What's in your wallet? Just do it. Just say no. Finger lickin’ good. Let's go places. The ultimate driving machine. Where’s the beef? America runs on Dunkin.

Despite all the revenues these phrases generated for the companies that employed them, for sheer frequency and reach, nothing matches the Leftist drumbeat, “Trump is Hitler.”

This brings us to Nuremberg.

As the trial of captured Nazi commanders commences, a quite graphic film is presented in the courtroom. It shows Generals Dwight Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, and George Patton visiting Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald in Weimar, Germany. It was the first camp to be liberated by U.S. troops. This film, shown in the courtroom, displays staggering numbers of emaciated bodies: prisoners who were starved, tortured, frozen, or worked to death. The scenes are as unmistakable as they are revolting, revealing the gruesomeness of Hitler's Nazi regime.

Never Again

Eisenhower knew that unless these horrific scenes were documented and circulated throughout the world, humanity risked the potential of Holocaust denial and a repeat of history. As such, he rounded up politicians, journalists, and even townspeople to extensively tour the camp.

In a 1985 trip to Europe, I visited Auschwitz (Oświęcim, Poland), a place of revulsion. A short walk from the front gate I was shocked to observe a pleasant river stream with a beachfront where families would go for recreation. These town folk knew about Oświęcim a few paces up the road but, we must hope, had no idea what was occurring within the gates.

Nuremberg graphically displays a tiny fraction of Hitler's multi-millions of murders. Thus, the Woke theatrical societies will not nominate the film for anything whatsoever. If they do, they risk educating legions of “useful idiots.” In other words, if any Lefties see the film, it will totally dispel the notion for them that Trump or his administration is even remotely Hitler-like.

Going to Any Length

The Left is driven by a sordid objective of global dominance and a one-world government. It is a sad era when half of the Western population will go to any length, even calling Trump supporters Nazis, to distort history in pursuit of their quest to vanquish Western societies.

Nuremberg is an excellent movie entirely worth seeing. Thereafter, recommend it to your liberal friends, if you still have any.
