It has to be a tough time to be a Democrat. Not because their political leaders are generally bad people or their legislative priorities are wildly destructive to everything this country was founded on and Americans hold dear, no – you know that going in. No, it is a tough time to be a Democrat because, after last week's electoral losses, it is abundantly clear they aren't going to change anything before the next election.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care. I'm actually glad they're taking all the wrong lessons from their losses. It's just a little shocking that people, particularly someone as praised for their political instincts as Nancy Pelosi, witnessed what happened and have taken away what they're sending to their supporters.
Rather than be reflective in any way about why they lost, Nancy Pelosi sent out a fundraising email rehashing almost everything they'd just tried and lost on.
Aside from screaming "Donald Trump!" every five seconds, Terry McAuliffe and other Democrats spent the last 11 months screaming about January 6. They pretended to be traumatized by it because they hoped their voters were. They weren't.
No one is honestly dwelling on a few hours almost a year ago. Sure, CNN and MSNBC can drag out a Capitol Hill or DC police officer every once in a while to "recount the horrors of that day," but have you noticed there are only about three of them? If it were so traumatic, haunting their dreams, it seems like you should be able to find more people saying it than the left-wing media darlings.

Still, if anyone were still impacted by the events of that day, you'd think it would be the police, yet we hear nonstop from Democrats about it, most of whom were not anywhere near the events of that day.
Nancy Pelosi knows that, but she knows what works with her voters. And even though what gets her voters to open their wallets but doesn't work with the general public, she's not about to give up that cash.
In a fundraising email under the subject line, "I've had it," the Speaker of the House writes, "I've had it. At least 10 people involved in the Capitol riots were just elected to state and local office. At least FIVE more are running for Congress. And Republicans only need to flip FIVE seats to retake our House Majority."
By "involved," she means attending the rally that day. Democrats paint with such a broad brush that if you've ever voted Republican and were in the eastern time zone on January 6, you are an irredeemable insurrectionist and will be until the day you die, maybe after too. You're either with them or they will demonize you.
Pelosi's email was pretty short, just a quick money grab from the gullible. After the intro, which I quoted above, she writes, "Hear me loud and clear: I refuse to let anyone who supported the desecration of our democracy ever hold power in the halls of Congress again. I'm calling for a MASSIVE response -- 1,500 gifts before midnight -- to PROTECT our House Majority, DEFEAT House Republicans, and stop them from EVER holding power in Congress again. Can I count on your immediate $3 to protect my House Democrats?"
Not sure in which world 1,500 "gifts" of $3 each, or $4,500, is "a MASSIVE response, after an off-year election which saw tens of millions raised and spent by each party just in Virginia alone, but I'm not the target audience here. The target is someone so upset by the election results, believing that rioters who tried to "overthrow the government" are on the verge of seizing power and destroying the country.
Believe it or not, there are plenty of people in the country who believe that. MSNBC and CNN do have audiences. They're small, but they exist. Will they send Nancy Pelosi, someone with a net worth of almost $200 million (seriously, look it up – being Speaker pays in ways more than salary) a couple of their hard-earned dollars to fend off a mythical horde of non-existent insurrectionists? Actually, probably. And probably a lot more than just 1,500 of them.
Never let it be said that being stupid doesn't pay, at least for Democrats.
