About it: The Plugged In app, a product of Focus on the Family's PluggedInOnline.com entertainment review arm, features movie, music, TV show and video game reviews -- all with a detailed content listing. Many of the film reviews also include a "video" review with clips from the movie. The app includes a search function that can be used to hunt past material.

MovieGuide

Platform: iPhone.

Price: Free for lite version, 99 cents for full version.

About it: Sponsored by the Christian website MovieGuide.org -- founded by reviewer Ted Baehr -- the lite version of the MovieGuide app includes reviews of current theatrical releases and recently released movies on DVD. The paid version includes a search function to MovieGuide's review archive. All reviews include detailed content reviews.

Christianity Today

Platform: iPhone.

Price: Free

About it: The Christianity Today app includes an entertainment section with movie and music reviews by Christianity Today reviewers.
