Truth in Lies

Truth has no more weight than lies for much of the population.

When Kamala Harris was one fading heartbeat away from the presidency, she spoke to a group about the war in Gaza. A young woman in the crowd mentioned something about Israel committing genocide and the like, to which the thankfully former vice-president told her to “pursue her truth.” What does that mean? Isn’t there something called Truth, with a capital “T”? If she can follow “her truth” and everyone else can do the same, then how can we ever get to the same conclusions? The answer is that we cannot, and that is part of the problem that we face today in public discourse. Facts and “truth” mean nothing to people who start with their conclusions, whatever they are, and work backwards. Tucker Carlson can claim that Israel works against Christians, while Israel is the only country in the Middle East with a growing Christian population. He can claim that Qatar is awesome for Christians, while conversion to Christianity and public display of Christian symbols are strictly forbidden.

We are presented daily with demonstrable lies. It’s one thing to claim something that cannot be proven one way or the other. But we have people who routinely give us “facts," statistics, and information that are simply wrong. For example, Carlson recently said that he knew of nobody killed in the US during the 24 years since 9/11 by Islamic terrorists. Now, if he ever had to go to court, he could claim that he personally did not know any of the 100+ people killed during that time by Muslims acting on behalf of ISIS or their Islamic beliefs. So, maybe he did not lie. But let’s say that he wanted to make a broader point: nobody was killed in the US by an Islamic terrorist during the years following the massive murder of 3,000 American citizens on 9/11. That point is clearly false. Whether it is the Pulse Nightclub (49 killed) or the attack one year ago in New Orleans (14 murdered), the perpetrators either stated their allegiance to an Islamic group or were found to be associated with the same. So why would Tucker Carlson make a statement that people quickly debunked through publicly-available information on attackers and their religious beliefs? The reason is that his followers want to believe the same. Carlson seems to be on some jihad to make Islam as American as apple pie and exploding suicide belts. People claim that he is on the dole from Qatar. I have no proof of the same, but his speeches of late have all attacked Israel and praised Qatar, Islam and Muslims in the US. He went so far to assert that Israel was intentionally making people feel that Islamic terror was a danger to Americans. I believe that most Americans who feel that Islam is a potential threat to them and the country came to their conclusions based on previous attacks and public expressions by Muslims that they want to make the US a sharia state.

The lies that are called truth can be found everywhere. Just a few examples:

  • Climate scare and, by extension, energy source changes. There is no real evidence that manmade carbon dioxide is a threat to mankind. Most CO2 comes from natural sources, and no one can directly tie human-made gas generation to some drastic change in climate—whether it be temperature, hurricanes, tornadoes or other atmospheric events. Think of all of the trillions spent on solar panels, wind turbines, and electric cars that were predicated on a massive climate risk that must be averted at all costs. If a person wants an electric car for convenience or some solar panels on the roof to reduce an electric bill, so be it. But much of the energy infrastructure is being changed for “Net Zero," leading in Europe to much higher energy prices and greater poverty. Germany shut down its nuclear and coal-fired power plants—but the country needs energy desperately. The climate crisis was built on a series of lies by hucksters and interested parties. Cheap energy is the foundation of a successful modern society and AI will demand huge amounts of additional energy production. The Chinese and Indians realize the same and are building coal-fired electrical generation at a torrid pace.
  • The Trans Delusion. A human has over 30 trillion cells. Most have a full set of chromosomes, which would include XY for a guy and XX for a woman. Unless one could change all of those chromosomes, then there is no chance of changing sex or gender. Sure, one can give drugs that damage puberty or do cosmetic surgery. I can walk on stilts and say that I am taller than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. There is no trans, though professors, doctors, educators and human subjects will claim otherwise. The trans confusion is one of many attempts to destroy the nuclear family that is the underpinning of modern Western (religious) societies. Gay marriage, no marriage at all, no children, no religion are other features of modern societies that stand in opposition to traditional societies built on God and family. Remember that it was a bunch of highly educated professors at Harvard Medical School who made up the term, “birthing people,” in order to erase the unique role of women in bringing new life into the world. Some woman claims to be a guy and give birth, and voila, we have a birthing person—and a decaying society.
  • DEI and Illegal Immigration. The point that binds these two subjects is the concept that people are interchangeable like parts in a machine. Why should it make any difference to Harvard if a black applicant with poor scores and grades gets a spot in the class of 2030 that would have gone to a white applicant with impeccable test scores, grades, and accomplishments? One of our boys took a crash course in computer programming. His instructor said that a parallel course was set up for Israeli Arabs. No one in the latter group passed the course. DEI just assumes that a “person of color” with less talent will perform as well as a talented white person. But experience shows otherwise; mediocrity simply moves along the assembly line until we have pathetic characters like “president” Claudine Gay and “vice president” Kamala Harris, neither of whom seems to be an intellectual powerhouse or truly accomplished professional.

With illegal immigration, those on the left try to blur the line between legal immigrants, many of whom have succeeded in the US and contributed a great deal, and the illegal variety that often contributes to wage suppression, lost jobs for Americans, higher rental costs, and increased crime and social problems. Getting into the US legally shows a respect for the country and its laws; entering illegally shows an immediate distaste for the country and its laws. There is no question that many illegal aliens work and provide labor in many industries. But we are either a nation of laws or not. Those in the US illegally should get the boot. They can reapply like others and enter at the determination of immigration authorities. Not all immigrants are equal, and entering illegally should be considered a criminal act. But those who wish to fill the country with new Democratic voters can’t be bothered by how a person gets into the United States. The illegal entry of ten million under Biden, while his people claimed that the border was closed, was no accident but a program to stay in power forever.

Truth and lies have been given equal weight. A Nobel Laureate could scream that trans is nonsense and half of the country would not believe him because they like the falsehoods. And that is not good for a constitutional republic.
