Not Elite But Rather Untouchables

There are elements of society that have simply exempted themselves or been exempted from the rules that the rest of us are expected to play by.

Not all people get irony. It is oftentimes so subtle that it passes right over the head of somebody without him catching the point. Irony could be used to explain the behavior of those often called “the elite”. They are not elite by normal metrics of knowledge, performance or proven ability. The athletes we saw in France recently are truly elite, the best of their class. The scientists who in only a few years went from theory to working atomic bombs were the elite of the scientific community of their day. Our politicians, bureaucrats, and lefty actors and athletes are not the elite of our society. Rather, they have set themselves up as the untouchables.

The DNC is running in Chicago. The planners put up miles of fencing around the forum. They have employed thousands of police and national guard to protect the event. Police from outside of Chicago have been brought into the city for the purpose of keeping the DNC safe. But the leaders of the Democratic Party were the ones demanding defunding of the police. They were the ones howling at officers over the rare cases of police using excessive force. They can claim otherwise but their words are preserved in tweets and videos that Google has not yet had time to make disappear. The people with the fencing are the same ones who took pride in tearing down whatever fencing Donald Trump put up along the Mexican border. They have fences around their convention and around their homes but they do not allow for fencing at the border in order to keep other Americans safe. They are so full of themselves that they see no irony or double standard in their actions. If I tell my kids that candy bars are unhealthy and they catch me eating one, I would be embarrassed and ashamed of being a hypocrite. Being of the right political bend means never having to entertain such feelings.

Silicon Valley grandees can demand an open border but never feel the impact of the poor and uneducated who come over by the millions. Their kids go to schools that do not suffer from teachers being unable to teach a third of the class that does not speak English. Their streets do not have tents and encampments that make the neighborhood look worse and feel unsafe. They do not get physically attacked by those they let into the US illegally. Like the Democrats in Chicago this week who go by “police for me but not for thee,” those supporting an open border are exactly those who are exempt from its horrible costs.

The same is true of crime and guns. Carjackings, robberies and assaults are up in big cities whose Soros prosecutors let the bad guys quickly out of jail on no bail. Sure, there are those odd stories of a politician being carjacked at gunpoint or held up on the way to the Capitol. But overall, these people support policies that make other people’s lives miserable while they themselves feel nothing. Ditto for guns. The Hollywood airheads demanding gun control are often seen with bodyguards who could absorb ten bullets before feeling anything. Their detail is armed but they want to take the guns from honest Americans who wish to protect themselves and their families from the criminals that Democratic mayors and DA’s have let loose. It has nothing to do with the elite, as some sports stars who came out for career criminal George Floyd have IQs equal to their shoe sizes. It has to do with blatant double standards. If you are in a favored group, you get different treatment. Your guards can have guns but normal Americans can’t. The ones who pay to see you play or perform need to have their guns taken away.

Covid probably showed us the height of hypocrisy and two-tiered America. Gavin Newsom could go to the French Laundry to eat with a big group, but you couldn’t have family over for a Thanksgiving dinner. BLM and Antifa could march by the thousands in close quarters but you could not hold an outdoor church service with wide seat separation. You had to wear a mask indoors but Nancy Pelosi did no such thing at the beauty parlor. The same for John Kerry when he flew. While I was told to replace my mask while I was chewing food, he would simply take his off during the duration of his flight. If I took my mask off, I knew that the police would be waiting for me as we deplaned. Kerry had no such concern.

Speaking of John Kerry, he and his ilk can fly private as often as they wish, while they will castigate you for driving a comfortable SUV. They can put endless tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere but still consider taking away your air conditioner and gas stove. These people see no restrictions for their lifestyles, with one Hollywood superstar flying from LA to Sydney, Australia, for dinner. But as to you, get used to a life with less—and we hope that you like your electric car that will replace your former Dodge pickup.

Equality means that everyone is equal before God and the law. There were many top-flight athletes and actors who went off to war like everybody else. Abe Lincoln rode his horse through the streets of Washington, while Richard Nixon went across the street from the White House to get a cup of coffee. Some may have felt that they were above the law, but like Leona Helmsley, they often found out that they too would go to jail for acting that way. Not today. The Bidens could line their pockets with at least $27 million and not fear any prosecution. Hilary Clinton could delete over 30,000 emails that were subject to Congressional subpoena and not worry in the least that she would face prosecution.

Americans have a heightened sense of fairness. If some guy rips a home run ball out of a kid’s glove, those around them will probably beat him silly until he returns the ball. That some get prosecuted (Trump/documents) while others do not (Biden/documents) does not sit well with anyone who is not a diehard lefty. America was built on “liberty and justice for all.” Any deviation to make certain people exempt from or untouchable by the rules goes against all that has made America great. Make America Fair Again. Now.
