While American families and industry are being crushed by a self-induced energy crisis, the Natural Resources Committee held a hearing to discuss big cats. Either your representatives don’t understand American priorities, or they simply don’t care, because suffering American families aren’t worried about big cats. They’re worried about historically high gas prices. As the representative for Missouri’s 4th district, I promise to care about the things you care about, because I will be in Washington DC representing my family, my friends, and my neighbors. Not the obviously out-of-touch political elite.
There’s no quick fix for the gas crisis that is crushing American families and industry because it is a complex issue that has been long in the making. No, it’s not as easy as telling the gas stations to just lower the price they charge at the pump, as Biden seems to think. While it will take time to fully resolve, there are several things that should be happening now to get the ball rolling toward an energy independent America. And none of those things are a gas tax holiday or begging the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia to bail us out, as is Biden’s plan. Let’s start fixing the problems here at home and get our country back to energy independence.
One of the first things Biden did when he took office was to shutdown oil-production projects like the Keystone XL Pipeline, and to freeze sales and leases for drilling on federal lands and waters, essentially crippling the industry’s infrastructure. And now he pretends to be surprised that America is suffering like it is? The first step to recovery from this crisis is to unshackle the American oil drilling industry and facilitate the infrastructure necessary to drill and transport oil. America can produce enough crude oil to supply not only our own country but to make profits on exports, and we should always be allowed to do so, even if it doesn’t fit into Biden’s radical green energy agenda.
Since taking office, Biden’s administration has been strangling companies with bureaucratic red tape and drowning them in regulations intended to slowly choke the life out of the fossil fuel industry in the name of climate activism, all at the expense of the American people. Instead, we should incentivize companies to increase the production and refining of American oil. Streamline the permitting, leasing, and approval processes for the construction and operation of natural gas and oil projects and eliminate unnecessary agenda-driven regulations intended to hamper the oil industry and force green energy alternatives.

While crude oil drilling is only one part of the complex process, America would be more than capable of refining the oil we produce if the Biden administration would facilitate the expansion and improvement of the severely outdated infrastructure. By relaxing government restrictions on investment and capital resources for companies that don’t fit Biden’s green energy agenda, oil and gas companies could make the necessary improvements and expansions to increase refining capabilities right here in the United States, rather than depending on other nations to do so for us.
The best time to take these steps would have been two years ago, when Biden made the opposite decisions that have led us where we are today. The second-best time would be today, but the Biden administration would have to care more about the American people than it does about his green energy agenda and climate activist allies. As the representative for Missouri’s 4th district, I promise to fight for the best interest of American citizens and industry. I promise to make America-first decisions that will ensure our great nation’s energy independence and prioritize the best interests of American citizens over the agendas of the political elites. Let’s safeguard American industry, interest, and independence together.
Kyle LaBrue is running for U.S. Congress to represent Missouri’s Fourth District, specifically to put American interests before globalist and special interests, to hold those who have defiled America accountable, and to curb inflation and out-of-control government spending that is directly affecting the livelihoods of the people of Middle Missouri.
