Coloradans Must Not Let Democrats Decide Our Republican Primary

Many Coloradans may not realize this, but this Tuesday will be a seismic turning point for our beautiful state. Primary voters will either head us down a path towards prosperity, or down a road to relentless government overreach in the state known for being the new frontier.

In just three and a half years, Jared Polis and his party have taken us from number 11 to 29 in business-friendly states, driven us to No. 1 in bank robberies, auto theft, and property crime, and created a crisis for our kids with one of the top suicide rates and drug addiction rates for children in the US. Our energy industry is decimated thanks to terrible policy decisions made by our governor at a time when energy independence could not be more critical for our country.

All this while Jared Polis pops up on national media spots pretending like all is fine in Colorado, nothing to see here, as he preps his bid to replace President Joe Biden.

Polis is so afraid of his real record that the political non-profit he started has dropped $3 million into Colorado’s Republican primary, in an attempt to pick his opponent in his upcoming re-election bid this fall.

I am the opponent he’s afraid to face.

I’m a mom on a mission that won’t stand by and watch our kids and grandkids’ future evaporate. I’m an entrepreneur that helped hundreds of franchisees build their own American dream. I’m the daughter of a cop that won’t tolerate the disregard for law and order that Jared Polis and his party have let loose on our communities. And, I’m a small town kid that doesn’t share Jared Polis’ belief that the rural towns across Colorado are a nuisance, taking up precious water and resources from his big city friends.

I’ve had it. And I’m betting that a lot of other folks in Colorado feel the same. We’ll find out this Tuesday.

My primary opponent cannot win the general election.  Democrats will capitalize on his criminal record of domestic abuse, as well as the fact that he gave special favors to a friend when he led our regional small business administration office.  Governor Polis knows he can beat him handily, so he and his party are spending millions now in our primary to avoid spending much more in the general election.

Polis knows I’m a fighter, and he knows I can win.  I beat Jared’s right-hand pick a few years ago in a heated statewide race here in Colorado, against all odds. I’m the only Republican who has won state-wide in our state in almost eight years. I’m the only statewide Republican right now.

I’ve faced adversity my whole life, losing my first husband in a plane crash at age 27, almost losing Camp Bow Wow, my franchise company in the great recession and coming out on the Inc 500/5000 fastest growing company list, and almost losing my life when I had brain surgery just under two years ago.

Those difficulties have prepared me for the battle of my life, the one for our country and beautiful state. I have been blessed to live the American dream. I want to do all I can to protect that for our kids, so they can have the same chance I did.

As governor, I’ll go all in on school choice and fund the student, not the system. I’ll be a law and order governor and make Colorado safe again.  I’ll respect, and be a voice for, rural Colorado. And I’ll take our state to zero income tax in my first term, cut the gas tax in half (and still fix the roads), and cut bureaucracy by 10% a year in my first term.

The most important thing I’ll do as Colorado’s first female governor is trust the people of our great state to make good decisions for their lives, their businesses, their health, and their children. The Colorado way of life is on the ballot Tuesday night.

Heidi Ganahl is running for Governor of Colorado. She is currently the only Republican in Colorado who was elected state-wide. She won her race for CU Regent in 2016, beating Jared Polis’ friend Alice Madden, co-author of The Blueprint. Heidi is a former CEO who has started several charities. She is the mother of four (Tori, Hollie, Jenna, and Jack) and the wife of BBQ cook and small business owner, Jason Ganahl.
