Remember when Barack Obama told us the Affordable Care Act would save us $2,500 and let us keep our doctors? Those things were both lies. Many people couldn't keep their doctors, and no one saved $2,500 on the lower-quality Obamacare plans we were forced to buy.
That's why no one should believe the Democrats when they tell us Medicare for All would save us money. It won't, no matter how many times Ro Khanna cites a Yale analysis.
A new Yale analysis found Medicare for All would cover every American AND save more than $1 trillion a year, cutting national health care spending by 20%.

"It would also mean better pay for doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers. The savings from cutting private insurance and Big Pharma profits as well as administrative waste would pay for increased Medicare reimbursement rates and $52 billion in unpaid hospital care. Medicare for All saves money and lives," he wrote on X.
First, Medicare for All would require a 30 percent payroll tax and a doubling of the federal income tax rate. At a minimum. The Yale study also notes that to obtain savings, doctors would be reimbursed at much lower Medicare rates. With hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical school debt, doctors will not be able to afford this and we'll have a shortage of medical professionals. Because nurses, anesthesiologists, and every medical worker would have to be paid less.
And Obamacare will save everyone money, plus if you like your doctor or your plan, you can keep them! -- We've already seen this movie before. We know that's all lies.

It's all lies, and even Khanna knows it.
Never in the history of economics has subsidizing something made it less costly.

It's amazing that we're even having this conversation when nationalized healthcare systems exist in other nations and their costs are completely out of control.
Costs will go up. Wait times will go up. Quality will go down. It's inevitable.
Add in the fact that Democrats will weaponize Medicare for All against their political opponents and it's a disaster waiting to happen.
If this is true, one simple Q: why hasn’t California done it already? 🤔
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) August 20, 2026
Nothing is stopping you. Dems have total control of state govt. You & Gavin could show the whole country what a great policy socialized medicine is!
Answer: you know it would bankrupt the state & cause… https://t.co/NbY5mVGUyG
The collapse of our healthcare system is the point.
I'm old enough to remember when Obamacare was going to save us $2200 a year and if you liked your doctor you could keep your doctor, then Jonathan Gruber said we were to stupid to see through that lie. Now we have to keep it alive by subsidizing it. GFY Ro. https://t.co/cVMReXOcNq

We almost forgot that Gruber called us stupid. Well, we better not fall for this again.
He’s such a shameless liar. Leaving aside that the study is garbage per se, many of its supposed savings come from its assumption that doctors and hospitals will be paid *less*. It says this in Table 1. And yet Khanna claims the exact opposite will happen here. Astonishing. https://t.co/isoSFBliRM

It's all a scam, and Khanna knows he's scamming us. But he'll say whatever it takes to pass his Medicare for All scheme.
