Brown had an eight-point lead in polling the week before the race, and the Republican Governor's Association said they went into debt to ensure a Hogan victory in the Old Line State.

LePage, known for his blunt delivery and brass attitude, let all of his emotions show while celebrating his unlikely four-point victory over Michaud and Eliot Cutler.
