Lots of News for a Friday...

... Sarah Palin is confirmed for SNL.  This is risky; it could pay off in a big way -- or fall flat.  (I'm hoping she spoofs Tina Fey in a 30 Rock parody).  Regardless, I'll be watching.

... On SNL last night, McCain and Obama talked about "Joe the Plumber."

... McCain to Letterman:  "I screwed up."

... At the Al Smith Dinner last night, McCain delivered this humorous line:

"I can't shake that feeling that some people here are pulling for me," McCain said, turning to the far side of the stage. "I'm delighted to see you here tonight, Hillary."

... Rumors are once again beginning to swirl that Colin Powell may endorse Obama.  A Powell endorsement would help McCain, to be sure, but a Powell endorsement of Obama would be huge for many reasons, including the fact that it would predictably garner a ton of media attention.

... Peggy Noonan is back out there helping undermining conservatives again today with this gem:
"But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office."

... John Hanlon is happy.  "Down by 7-0, Red Sox come back to force a game 6."
