Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine plans to make what's being billed as a major announcement Wednesday about the future of the party, according to a Democratic source with knowledge of the speech. The source tells CNN that Kaine will announce something that will excite Democrats across the country.Sure to excite Democrats, you say? An unconditional surrender in Afghanistan? A restoration of ACORN funding? Buy one, get one free abortions for a year? A bigger Ground Zero Mosque? An arrest warrant for Sarah Palin? (Okay, okay, I'm getting a little carried away).
Of course if Kaine really wanted to excite a majority of Americans, he could announce President Obama has elected not to run for a second term. Alas, his super-duper surprise will almost certainly end up being little more than a lame attempt to spoil the run of his RNC jousting partner:
The speech, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at George Washington University, happens around the same time that Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele kicks of a major bus tour in support of Republicans running in the midterm elections. But the source says that the timing of Kaine event was in the works well before the date of Steele's kickoff was announced. What does Uncle Timmy have up his sleeve? Speculate while you can...the riveting moment of truth is near.
UPDATE: A GOP Capitol Hill source emails: "I don't think the words 'Tim Kaine' and 'exciting' have ever appeared in the same sentence without the word 'not.' "
