Speaking at an Intercollegiate Studies Institute event in Wilmington, Del., last week, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson offered up a prediction about the 2024 election.
Right now, hypothetical matchups between former President Donald Trump and President Biden show the former slightly ahead, according to RealClearPolitics’ average of national surveys. But it would be a mistake to assume these two men will actually face off in a little over a year’s time.
According to Carlson, “This is not going to be a race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. I would bet my beloved fishing camp in Maine that that is not going to happen. That’s not going to happen.”
Now, what will happen is a different story—and one Carlson made no attempt to say.
One possible scenario that does concern him, however, is the prospect of California Gov. Gavin Newsom jumping in the race. “That guy’s scary, and I mean it,” he argued.
But the host of “Tucker on X” said between now and November 2024, there are going to be “developments nobody in this room could foresee… so it’s about to get very serious.”
Carlson argued the U.S. is being run by a small group of “really, really dark people” whose interests do not represent the views of anywhere “close to a majority” of Americans.
“The people who are responsible for it are the most dishonest, the most ruthless, the most anti-human group I’ve ever dealt with, and I spent 35 years living in Washington,” Carlson said. “I don’t even recognize these people. And what they’re doing… it’s so dark. They’re doing things that can’t even on an academic level conceivably help the United States or the population that lives here.”
That means citizens cannot carry on pretending nothing is wrong. Instead, Carlson argued they should focus on what is within their means to change: themselves.
“This is the moment to try a little bit harder to be a little bit better. This is not the moment to be drunk all the time. This is not the moment to tell lies. As they go lower, go higher,” he advised.
