During Thursday’s White House coronavirus task force briefing, Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin addressed the timeline for Americans receiving checks from the government as part of the COVID-19 relief package. Secretary Mnuchin confirmed that Americans will receive their compensation in a matter of weeks, not months:
.@stevenmnuchin1: "This money does people no good if it shows up in 4 months and we will deliver on that promise."

REPORTER: So quickly is a matter of weeks, then perhaps, not months?
MNUCHIN: "Quickly is a matter of weeks and not months, that's correct."
Secretary @stevenmnuchin1: "I don't know where you're hearing these things. I told you this would be three weeks. I'm now committing to two weeks. We're delivering on our commitments. The IRS which I oversee, within two week the first money will be in people's accounts." pic.twitter.com/gT5NhjTl72

Sec. Mnuchin’s sentiment directly refutes the alarmist narrative pushed by Democratic Senate candidates in swing states, all of whom are allies with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY):
Arizonans who just lost their jobs or businesses can't wait 5 months for relief.

Arizonans who couldn't pay their rent yesterday can't wait 5 months for relief.
Arizonans need help *now* and anything less is unacceptable. https://t.co/1IlBg1yb6m
5 months is absolutely unacceptable. Kansans were promised relief and need it ASAP. https://t.co/dZ1f8Ml5Ez

This is unacceptable. Many Mainers and Americans across the country can't wait five months for the help they were promised from the federal government. People need relief, and they need it immediately. #mepolitics https://t.co/ayWS7Qyhjd

Nearly 10 million Americans have already filed for unemployment, with more to come. People need help NOW. We can't afford to wait 5 months. https://t.co/7glpJd0yW9

Pushing false narratives does nothing to help the nation fight COVID-19, a global health pandemic that Americans have died at the hands of. Americans deserve to see Republicans and Democrats united and working together in good faith, not using a national crisis to score political points.
