Border Patrol agents in the Tucson sector arrested two individuals for attempting to smuggle drugs into the United States last week. There's nothing unusual about that, but smugglers and the cartels are getting more creative with how they attempt to conceal the drugs.
According to Customs and Border Protection, a drug-sniffing canine positively identified the odor of methamphetamine in the back of a Ford pickup truck. Once Border Patrol agents completed a thorough search of the truck, they uncovered 14 packages of drugs hidden in the walls of an ice chest. In total, they seized 16 pounds of meth with a street value of roughly $16,000.

About an hour later, a woman attempted to cross the border in the pedestrian lane. Agents discovered roughly half-a-pound of heroin in her crotch. Her load had a street value of approximately $3,200.
