Seven Candidates to Debate in South Carolina

Seven Democrats will take the stage in South Carolina Tuesday night ahead of Saturday’s primary. Present on the South Carolina stage, after failing to qualify for last week’s debate in Las Vegas, is billionaire Tom Steyer.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is the current frontrunner after strong performances at the ballot box in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada. Former Vice President Joe Biden maintains a slim lead over Sen. Sanders in South Carolina, a state that he calls his “firewall.”

Sen. Sanders appears to be knocking on the door of the former vice president’s “firewall” after the senator from Vermont’s performance in last week’s debate and at the ballot box. Realistically, this is Vice President Biden's last chance at the nomination; if Sen. Sanders clinches South Carolina, the path to the nomination for any other candidate is virtually non-existent.

Tuesday’s debate in South Carolina starts at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Follow along with us on our live blog.
