Robert De Niro: I'd 'Disown' My Kids If They Acted Like President Trump's Kids

"The Irishman" star Robert De Niro railed against President Trump and his children on Monday during his interview on "The View," saying he would disown his own kids if they acted like the Trumps.

"You also talk about his children, and you say that they’re like a gangster family too," host Joy Behar said.

"I don’t want my kids to take this the wrong way, but if my kids did what their kids did, I wouldn’t want to be related to them. I would disown them," De Niro replied, referring to Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump.

"I would have a serious talk with them — I would have a serious talk with them. First of all, it’s an impossibility. My kids are not like that of course, but if I disagreed with them on things of principle, I would say, and they felt it, and we do now. Even about this...We’re at a crossroads as we all know," he continued. "He would want to get elected a third term. He joked about it. He would want to be king for life. All these things are true."

The famed actor said Trump needs to be taken seriously when he jokes about staying for more than two terms.

"He’s got to be taken out of office...We want the American people of course, to vote him out. Register. Get young people. Get Latinos. Get African-Americans, everybody out there. Don’t be apathetic. You have got to get out there now and vote," De Niro added.

De Niro is a stanch Trump critic who recently said he believes South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the best option for Democrats to win in 2020.

"[Buttigieg's] got all the credentials—Rhodes Scholar, Afghanistan veteran—even though he’s young, and if he could get a chance it could be something special, I think. As a gay person, he’s someone who comes from a marginalized community, so people from other ethnic groups can identify with him, even if they’re not gay, because they know what it’s like. I think he’s the best for what we need now," he said.
