Here's Why de Blasio Made a Plane Full of People Wait on the LaGuardia Tarmac

The unfortunate New Yorkers at LaGuardia airport who had shared a flight with Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday had to put their days on hold while he was ushered first off the aircraft. Sure, it was only about a 10-minute delay, but it's the principle of the thing. It was not some official mayor duty de Blasio had to make. He had to get to ... an appearance on "The View."

Unfortunately for him, a New York Post reporter was on that flight. And we all know how the Post feels about him.

The matter gave New Yorkers just one more reason to sneer at the mayor.

“This is just a continuation of the rudeness and the bluntness of his performance last night,” said one passenger, regarding his debate performance the previous evening.

“It’s par for the course, par for the course,” said another.

When de Blasio first jumped in to the 2020 White House race, 76 percent (perhaps more now) (not perhaps, definitely) of New Yorkers said they did not want him to run for president. He's only proved their point. His campaign schedule has often taken priority over New York's needs. Like that stop in Iowa, which made him MIA during last month's blackout crisis. Even New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called him out for that absence.

The mayor has a few more scandals to his name, one of which was on display at Wednesday night's Democratic debate in Detroit. Before he even finished his opening statement, de Blasio was heckled by protesters in the audience over his decision not to fire Daniel Pantaleo, the cop who killed African-American man Eric Garner after placing him in a chokehold in 2014. The incident had national implications.

As for that "View" appearance he was in a hurry to make on Thursday, it was taped. As in, not live. 

Why was he rushing again?

When De Blasio finally did arrive at ABC, the talk show hosts asked him why New Yorkers don't like him.
