UPDATE: The two people shot near Central Michigan University were not students, with police saying it was a domestic situation. The suspect has been identified as James Eric Davis Jr. The campus remains on lockdown (via TV6, local Michigan NBC outlet):
Police held a press conference around noon on Friday, March 3rd after reports of shots being fired at Central Michigan University.
No students, faculty, or staff have been injured. Students are still on lockdown but police say that campus is safe. Police believe that this is a family domestic type incident.
A photograph of the suspect, James Eric Davis Jr. has been released.
Police consider this an active event, and are actively looking for the Davis, who was last seen running north from the Towers Complex on the railroad. He is believed to still be in city limits. Police remind community members to not approach the individual and to call 911 if they have any information.
Tactical teams from University police, Mount Pleasant police, the Sheriff’s Office and, Michigan State Police are assisting in the investigation.
CMU police did have contact with Davis last night, he was in the hospital for a drug related incident but was released from the hospital.
Police did not confirm if Davis is a student of Central Michigan University.
Michigan State Police Crime Lab is processing the scene and police have to notify next of kin before identities of the victims can be released.

At least two people were shot when a gunman opened fire inside a Michigan university building early Friday morning.
Students and faculty at Central Michigan University were sent emergency alerts around 9 a.m., Friday that a shot had been fired at Campbell Hall. Local police said two people were shot, their conditions unknown.
The university tweeted that a suspect was “still at large” and that students and faculty on campus should “take shelter.”
There has been a report of shots fired at Campbell Hall on campus. Suspect is still at large, police advise all to take shelter. If you see something suspicious, call 911.

CBS Detroit reported that air and canine units have been dispatched as well.
Campbell Hall is a student dorm, part of a four dorm complex at the university, located in Mt. Pleasant.
All University buildings, all Mt. Pleasant schools, city buildings and nearby McClaren Central Michigan Hospital are on lockdown at this time.
Michigan State Police tell WWJ they are sending aviation, canine units and emergency support teams to the campus.
