President Donald Trump has just released a statement on the scandal surrounding his Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Sessions is accused of lying to Congress about his conversations with Russian officials. Yet, he insists he did not speak with Russia about any political campaigns, which was the specific question asked of him by Sen. Al Franken (D-MN).
As the White House indicated earlier on Thursday, Trump stands behind his man. In his statement, the president argues that Sessions said nothing wrong and the calls for his resignation amount to nothing more than a "witch hunt." The media, he says, are ignoring the real story.

Sessions held a press conference Thursday afternoon alerting the press that he would indeed be recusing himself from any investigation into Russia's influence on the White House or political campaigns.
That may not be enough for the Democrats who are demanding he step down.
