Vice President Mike Pence was given the "Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award" on Thursday night at CPAC by NRA Executive Director Chris Cox. The award is CPAC's highest honor and is only bestowed when "a worthy recipient is apparent."

Pence was bestowed the award for persevering through the 2016 election and winning the White House with Donald Trump. He was honored for his faith and commitment to his principles. Pence was greeted with a smattering of "U-S-A" chants from the crowd as he took the stage:
