Election Day is nearly here, and the overall nastiness and contention that has plagued this election cycle has no signs of stopping any time soon. Election fatigue is a real thing, and people are getting burnt out by the nearly 600-day long campaign. As the polls narrow, the ads get are getting meaner, the accusations between the candidates are flying, and one can only imagine what is going to be going down when the actual votes start to come in next week.
To combat the stress and intensity of this election, The Weather Channel announced on Tuesday that on Election Night the network would turn into an oasis of sorts. On Election Day, The Weather Channel will eschew politics and instead play nine hours of what it's calling a "chill marathon," full of clouds, rainbows, pretty autumn trees, and smooth jazz.
ATLANTA (Nov. 1, 2016) -- This election year, American citizens have endured wall to wall breathless tension from our colleagues in the news media, and our forecast calls for a 100% chance that will continue through election day. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had a place to escape? If you think The Weather Channel is going to tell you to sit back, relax and stick your head in the clouds...you are correct.
This election night, as other networks go low, The Weather Channel goes high... to the sky that is. Clouds! Rainbows! Autumn Splendor! And...yes...smooth jazz! Weather will have it all in a 9-hour chill marathon guaranteed to evoke tranquility and set your soul at ease.
Starting at 3 p.m ET on November 8, the marathon will include the most beautiful, awe-inspiring, and calming weather video and scenery ever caught on tape. This world is a beautiful and magical place after all.
So go vote America and check out election results, but if you want a break from the pundits, pontifications, predictions and politics... turn to Weather.
It’s going to be huge.
I wouldn't be shocked if The Weather Channel sees its best ratings ever next Tuesday. I think we're all ready for a break and some pictures of pretty foliage.
