After audio surfaced of Hillary Clinton insulting Bernie Sanders supporters, the two have split up on the campaign trail and will not be appearing together at events this week. The two were supposed to campaign together today in Iowa, but now Sanders will host rallies alone in Iowa and Wisconsin later this week.
“Wednesday's Des Moines stop was added to make up for appearances tentatively scheduled in Iowa on Monday, October 3,” the campaign said in a release.
Sanders will be in Des Moines, Iowa, in the morning, and will host rallies in Madison and Green Bay, Wis., in the afternoon.
He will discuss the Democratic nominee’s “plan to build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top, and Donald Trump's plan, which would benefit himself and other millionaires and billionaires,” the campaign said.
Probably a smart move to split up the two. It wouldn't exactly be a good look for Clinton or the Democratic party if loads of Sanders supporters show up to the joint rally angry at her comments. It's better to split them off to their own rallies--at least for party unity's sake.
