U.S. Rep. Mark Takai (D-HI) passed away on Wednesday at his home in Hawaii after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 49.

Takai served in the House of Representatives since January of 2015. He had previously served 20 years in the Hawaii House of Representatives.
