One of the most iconic moments in the weeks following the September 11 terrorist attacks was President Bush's ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium for game three of the World Series. ESPN's 30 for 30 Shorts released "First Pitch" earlier this morning, which tells the story about the events and security measures that led up to the pitch. Bush, members of his cabinet, his family, and the Yankees organization were interviewed to provide an inside look at the game and how baseball helped the city, and nation, heal from the attacks.
Watch the video here, and get some tissues:
For what it's worth, WaPo found that Bush's first pitch at game three is quite possibly one of the most technically perfect ceremonial first pitches of all time.
