Hillary seems to be on a roll lately. In a new poll out today from CNN/ORC, things aren’t looking too great for the current vice president. Only 10% of Democrats currently back VP Biden for a potential bid for president in 2016. On the other hand, 65 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said they would back Clinton as the presidential nominee.
Although neither potential candidate has even come close to announcing a run for the presidential seat in 2016, Vice President Biden did make a trip to Iowa just this past weekend. Now a trip to Iowa may not mean a definite bid, but many politicians who make that trip often have a run in mind. In this most recent poll, Biden barely beat out freshman Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts who garnered 7 percent of the vote.
The poll also took a look at the likely GOP field, and it appears there is no clear front-runner for 2016 yet. The two front runners, Chris Christie and Paul Ryan were practically tied with 17 and 16 percent respectively. The rest of the field wasn’t far behind them though. Rand Paul garnered 13 percent in the poll, Jeb Bush saw a 10 percent win and Marco Rubio got 9 percent.
So it looks like, if Hillary decides to run she will be the nominee. This information helps the Republicans when deciding who to choose to run against her. Republicans don’t have to try and pick a candidate that could take on either Clinton or Biden, which could make for a better chance at a win.
