Democrats Still Planning to Run on pro-Obamacare Platform in 2014 Elections

Earlier this summer, prominent Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, announced plans to run on a pro-Obamacare platform for the 2014 elections. Over the weekend, Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn reconfirmed those plans.

The House assistant Democratic leader said on Sunday that his party will campaign on President Obama’s controversial healthcare law in 2014.

“We will be running on ObamaCare in 2014,” Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) said during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“In fact, we set it up to run on it in 2014,” he continued. “We fully expect to run on it, we expect to win on it. The American people will be the winner.”
Please, be our guest. The historic 2010 overturn of the house to Republicans happened thanks to conservative candidates running against Obamacare and they're planning on doing it again while Democrats continue their desperate attempt to sell the unpopular legislation (three years and counting). As a reminder, polling for the healthcare overhaul only gets worse as we get closer to implementation on October 1, 2013.

It will be interesting to see how labor unions (a huge part of the Democratic base) will receive Democrats touting the legislation. After all, union leaders have been warning Obamacare will not only kill the full-time 40 hour work week, but will destroy healthcare benefits for its members.

The leaders of three major U.S. unions, including the highly influential Teamsters, have sent a scathing open letter to Democratic leaders in Congress, warning that unless changes are made, President Obama’s health care reform plan will “destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.”

If that’s not bad enough, the Affordable Care Act, if not modified, will “destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans,” the letter says.
