Two days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Buckingham Palace has released a statement about the couple's allegations. In her sit down with Winfrey, Markle revealed that she sought mental help because she had contemplated suicide amidst all the negative media coverage, but was rebuffed. She also alleged that members of the Royal household questioned her and Harry about what their son's skin color would be, among other shocking claims.
The new statement, written on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, indicates that the Palace is saddened to hear the young couple's story.
"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," the statement reads. "The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
"While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."
In a follow up interview, Winfrey told friend Gayle King on CBS that the family member who questioned Archie's skin color was not Harry's grandmother, the Queen, nor his grandfather, Prince Philip, who's currently in the hospital.

Prince Harry dropped a few of his own bombshells during their joint Oprah interview. Harry says he and Meghan were completely cut off financially when they announced they were stepping back from Royal duties, which included a loss of security. He also told Winfrey that his father, Prince Charles, had stopped taking his phone calls and that no one in his family has reached out to him to apologize about how the matter unfolded.
