'Kamalamania'—How Wide and How Deep?

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

As a historian, I’m always a little shy about predicting specific future events.  I do believe history teaches us general principles (for example, nations reap what they sow—look at what is happening in the UK now), but only God knows how that translates into forthcoming particulars.  Given historical records, it wasn’t too difficult to prognosticate, back in early 2021, that the Biden-Harris administration would largely be a disaster if they did what they said they were going to do.  Well, they did, and it has been.  And if Kamala is elected this year, it doesn’t take a Jeremiah to foresee the future United States will encounter some serious problems.

Interestingly, the Left perceived this as well, and last year, they were warning Biden to get rid of Harris.  Most of that was undoubtedly because they feared she would be a drag on the ticket in 2024, but many of them wanted her gone.  On September 13, 2023, “New York” magazine (the same mag that recently glorified “Kamalot”) published an article entitled “The Case for Biden to Drop Kamala Harris.”  A June 28, 2023, “Newsweek” essay was labeled, “The Democrats Shouldn’t Ditch Joe Biden—They Should Replace Kamala Harris.”  On March 15, the “Washington Post” chipped in, saying, “For the Country’s Sake, Vice-President Harris Should Step Aside.”

This is really a hoot.  Last year, major Leftist media outlets were panicking—“Harris has to go!”  They knew then just how totally incompetent and how much of a joke she was.  Now...it’s “Kamalot” and “Kamalamania.”  I wonder if these people understand how utterly ludicrous they sound.  Well, I’ll give them credit for one thing—they know that the American electorate has the memory span of a pigeon and that millions of voters don’t care anyway.  Most people who vote for Kamala will vote for her because they always vote Democrat; it doesn’t matter who the candidate is (it’s the same with Republican voters).  The “Independents,” the 20% who will decide the election, are the ones who must be persuaded.  They are the people being targeted with “Kamalamania,” and whom the media hopes will forget what they said about her last year.  And no doubt, most of those who even knew will indeed have forgotten.

Unless they read this column and allow me to remind them.

But we are in the midst of “Kamalamania,” one of the most powerful propaganda movements in the history of humanity.  It makes Joseph Goebbels look like...a...Kamala Harris.  And this propaganda tsunami is not going to stop until November 6.  You can count on that.  The wave will get bigger and bigger and bigger in its attempt to sweep up everything in its path and land Kamala Harris in the White House.  There will be absolutely no let-up.  Don’t expect one, not for a minute.

“Kamalamania” is wide—it will cover the whole country and as much of the world as the Democrats can enable to vote.  But the question is, how deep is it?  How many Americans are really going to be swept away by it?  A widespread flood will soak everything—and everybody—and push over the rootless.  But a thin trickle, even if wide, only annoys people with their feet firmly on the ground.  We can’t avoid “Kamalamania”; its width is nation-wide.  But how deep is it?

“Kamalamania” is here to stay until the election.  The only question is, how effective will it be?

History doesn’t answer that question for us, but I can say that some history is not especially encouraging on the subject.  When one element controls most of the media, they have a huge advantage and often accomplishes its purposes.  Hitler came to power riding a wave of Nazi propaganda.  The CCP in China controls the state-run media and blocks some 8,000+ websites to prevent its citizens from having access to the truth.  ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, AP, Google, Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, and Washington Post are all in for Kamala now, and their onslaught will be relentless.

The Leftist propaganda machine is massive.

But there is one difference between today and 1930s Germany—Americans do have access to media sources that Germans didn’t have; it isn’t just newspapers and radio (or TV, which Germans didn’t have back then).  I suspect most Americans get their news now from locations other than the above garbage bins; I certainly do, only looking at any of the Leftist outlets to know what NOT to believe.

But how many Americans are going to truly see through “Kamalamania”?  Obviously, the Left thinks—at least hopes—it will be successful, or they wouldn’t be spending hundreds of millions of dollars promoting it.  They MUST propagandize and lie and throw up befuddling mud because they know they have a horrible, incompetent candidate, that Kamala Harris couldn’t be elected dog poop sweeper without Willie Brown or Joe Biden or the Leftist media pushing her over the top.  Propaganda and lies are all they’ve got.

But they don’t care.  They really don’t care that Harris is a fool and a bumbling incompetent.  Even if elected, she isn’t going to be President any more than Joe Biden was/is.  Biden is senile and demented and had no clue what he was doing; if Kamala wins, America will only be replacing mental senility with mental stupidity, and since the Deep State runs the Democratic Party anyway, they couldn’t care less who sits in the Oval Office.  One useful idiot is as good as another.

But they have to get her there, and the only way they can do it is with “Kamalamania.”  She is currently no more competent than Joe Biden. If anything, she will be worse because the Left intends to increasingly push America in the direction they desire. Kamala isn’t going to stop that.

Will “Kamalamania” be successful?  I don’t know.  Only November 5 will tell.

Don’t...be...complacent.
