As Republican leaders, elected officials, candidates, delegates, and others meet this week in Milwaukee for the 43rd Republican National Convention in the wake of a failed assassination attempt against the party’s about-to-be nominee for president, one fact clearly stands out: Donald John Trump is not just the nominee who will win the fall campaign, he is the leader America needs back in the White House.
That’s a judgment based on looking backward and forward – based on our experience with him in the Oval Office, and based on the campaign promises he is committed to implementing when elected. After all, the world has changed significantly since he left office four years ago, and not for the better
With his choice of Ohio Senator J.D. Vance to serve as his running mate and vice president, Trump shows that he is committed to a new generation of leadership for the future.
Trump back in the White House means the federal government will end the border crisis by sealing that southern border. He’ll reinstate his “Remain in Mexico” policy, and begin construction again on the border wall. As good as that will be, though, that won’t be enough – over the course of the last three and a half years, Joe Biden’s administration has allowed many millions of illegal aliens to enter into and settle in our country. So Trump has declared that he will lead the largest deportation program in our nation’s history, to remove those illegal aliens.
Moreover, Trump knows that allowing so many illegal aliens into our country sends all kinds of bad signals. For instance, if we don’t care enough about securing our borders to prevent millions of illegal aliens from entering our country, why would we care enough to properly police our streets? Trump understands the linkage, and is committed to supporting our men and women in blue as they work to restore and maintain order and security, and make living in our neighborhoods and communities as safe as it should be. Trump knows that in order to support law enforcement efforts at home, it will require him to work to destroy foreign drug cartels abroad. That will allow him to end the immigrant crime epidemic by locking up violent offenders and stopping gang violence.
As Trump’s campaign puts it, he will make America secure again.
Trump has also promised to tackle the inflation Biden created when he chose to spend trillions of dollars we didn’t have. Inflation when Donald Trump left office was 1.4 percent, not the 9 percent Joe Biden continues to wrongly say it was – inflation didn’t actually reach 9 percent until June of 2022, a year and a half into Biden’s presidency, following the implementation of his wild spending. Today, Biden brags about the fact that inflation has come down to 3 percent – even though that’s still more than twice as high as it was when he took office. Trump will focus on this to ensure that America is affordable again.
A second Trump administration will also reverse the Biden administration’s anti-growth energy policies and return to the pro-growth, pro-energy development policies that will make the United States the world’s dominant energy producer. That, too, will help bring down inflation and prices, and make life more affordable again.
Further, Trump knows some of the tax cuts enacted during his first administration will expire next year. He is committed to significant tax cuts for workers, and has declared his support for reducing the corporate tax return even further, to make American businesses even more competitive on the world stage. And to stimulate economic growth even more, he has promised to overturn Biden’s electric vehicle mandate and cut burdensome regulations.
One of the things that so endeared President Trump to conservatives during his first term was his determination to follow through on a campaign promise he made to appoint constitutional conservatives to the Supreme Court. Given the opportunity, he followed through, and three new conservative justices sit on the Court – along with hundreds of others appointed to the lower courts. He is committed to defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – including the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms – and he will continue to follow the same model of appointing conservative judges in a second term.
And Trump is determined to secure our elections, to ensure that the bedrock of our freedoms – government by the consent of the governed, the foundation of our republic – will be protected. He will strengthen election integrity laws, and will work to enhance voter identification and use of paper ballots. He supports and will work to enact legislation that would require states to obtain documentary proof of citizenship before registering an individual to vote in a federal election – in fact, he even suggested that legislation that just passed the House should be added to the upcoming Continuing Resolution as a means to get it through the Senate and onto Biden’s desk, where Biden will have no choice but to sign it into law.
Donald Trump will unite America by working across all sectors to take us to new and previously unseen levels of success. His agenda is a positive, forward-looking program that offers a clear and compelling contrast with the weak, timid, restrictive agenda offered by his opponent. Combine Trump’s agenda with his strength of character and experience in office and you have a compelling argument for Trump’s election and return to the White House.
