Kansas legislature working to avoid school shutdown

A funding plan has been introduced in Kansas that would allow the state to avoid a shutdown of public schools. Committees in both the House and Senate have approved identical bills that would provide $38 million in aid to poor school districts in 2016-17, redistributing money from wealthier districts to poorer ones.
