Why These People Were Rushed to the Hospital Following a Trump Rally

At least 20 rallygoers who sat directly behind former President Donald Trump during his Tuscon, Arizona, rally were rushed to the emergency room after suffering a mysterious illness that caused blurred vision and burning eyes.

Those hospitalized cited “unbearable” pain from “burning” red eyes and were blinded by “bright lights” in the days afterward.

Rallygoer Mayra Rodriguez told KVOA that she began experiencing eye irritation after leaving the venue which only seemed to worsen, resulting in her going straight to the emergency room. After examining her symptoms, a nurse asked her if she had been sprayed with anything. However, doctors were unable to determine a diagnosis of what could have caused the eye injuries.

“I can’t see anything when I try to open my eyes. I see a bright light. It hurts, it hurts a lot to open my eyes. I have this cold cloth I put on and take off constantly. It's horrible," she said.

Meanwhile, a brother and sister who sat near Rodriguez cited similar injuries to the outlet, echoing a similar sensation of an “unbearable” pain in the eyes.

Rodriguez questioned why only the group sitting on the right side of the stage, where Trump entered the venue, were the only ones affected.

The incident occurred just days before a second assassination attempt on Trump while the former president played golf on his West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course on Sunday.
