As I'm sure you recall, the arrest came about after Sgt. Crowley responded to a report of a possible break-in at Gates' home near Harvard. Gates insisted the arrest was based on racial profiling and President Obama prematurely announced the Cambridge police had acted "stupidly." After the facts of the case emerged, Obama backpedaled and invited both men to a "beer summit" at the White House to smooth over his public relations bump in the road.
Unless the Smithsonian wants to prominently feature the Left's history of quickly misjudging the relationship of race and justice in America, it's unclear why they would accept Gates' "donation." Furthermore, I'm shocked a museum dedicated to the advancement of African Americans would consider such a blatant blunder on the parts of Obama and Gates as a prominent feature to showcase. As the

Instead of an 'opportunity to come together' for the purpose of 'healing and unity,' Obama's racial summit cum rose garden beer blast only served to lay bare this president's abject moral turpitude... What should be a dignified tribute to the contributions of Black Americans for the greater good of this nation, has now been co-opted by those trying to promote a deleterious vision of America's supposed racial discord.
