Well, I wish I were surprised to report this news, but I'm not.  The Senate voted to reject an amendment today that would have restricted abortion coverage in the pending health care overhaul bill.

The measure failed in a vote of 54-45 would've restricted coverage of abortion for people receiving government subsidies to purchase health insurance.  The amendment was expected to fail, but this might mean its main sponsor, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), may now be voting against the final bill.

Merry Christmas--taxpayer funded abortions are on the way!
