Fiorina Announces Bid for U.S. Senate

California Senator Barbara Boxer (D) will be facing some serious competition in her upcoming re-election bid.  Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has announced her bid for Boxer's Senate seat.  Fiorina will first face a Republican challenger, conservative state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore in a June primary election.

Fiorina's name might sound familiar to some: she was a top economic advisor to then-presidential candidate John McCain during his failed presidential campaign against President Obama.

In her candidacy announcement, Fiorina voiced concerns over unemployment and "too much spending in Washington."  She also voiced her opposition to current health care proposals being considered in DC, saying "we should build on what works" instead of "remaking the entire healthcare system."
