Video: In a Bad Economy, President Obama Only Has "Excuses"

On Friday, Crossroads GPS announced a $25 million advocacy effort to get the president to address the nation’s debt and failed policies that have “flat-lined” the economy. The organization launched a new, appropriately-named ad today titled, “Excuses”, which is a direct response to the dismal jobs report.

The ad will begin appearing next week in Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, New Hampshire, Nevada and Virginia.

From the press release:

We’re suffering through one of the weakest economic recoveries in our history, and the only thing President Obama is offering is slogans and excuses,” said Steven Law, President of Crossroads GPS.  “People are hungering for practical solutions to our skyrocketing debt and flat-lined economy, and that’s what we are putting forward in our New Majority Agenda.”

The unemployment rate today remained unchanged at 8.2%.  However, if the labor participation rate were the same as when President Obama took office, the unemployment rate would be a staggering 10.9%. Hundreds of thousands of workers have stopped looking for work during the recovery, making the unemployment rate appear artificially low.

Meanwhile, responding to a reporter who asked why it was okay for Romney to use the ‘factors out of my control’ excuse for a jobs report in Massachusetts but it’s not okay for President Obama to, Mitt Romney answered:

“In any jobs figures there are gonna be factors that come and go you can’t control. But the things you can control you want to get right. And the case of President Obama, this is not a monthly statistic or even a half yearly statistic. We’ve looked at now almost four years of policies that have not gotten America working again….that’s not just a short period of time, that’s over a four year period of time almost.”
