Conventional Wisdom Afterall?

A lot has been said that this election has tossed conventional wisdom on its head.

BUT has it?

It is often said that Democrats like to nominate fresh new faces and that Republicans prefer to nominate a candidate who has paid his dues with years of service.  This was a big part of what created the "inevitability of McCain" storyline in the very beginning -- and likely a big reason why McCain didn't fold during his summer in Siberia.

There were flirtations with other imperfect candidates but an uninspired party looks to be reverting back to form.

The more things change, the more things remain the same.
