Already one of the most vulnerable incumbents seeking re-election this year, Lincoln is headed toward a June 8 runoff with Halter — extending what's already been one of the most bitter and expensive political fights in Arkansas history.
Lincoln had said she would be ecstatic with either a runoff or a clear-cut victory in Tuesday's primary, but Halter has said that forcing her into a prolonged campaign would be close to a win for his bid.
This is a high-dollar race that now promises to suck even more money from Democratic coffers. That means whoever comes out on top is even more vulnerable in this volatile seat with a fighting chance for the GOP to come out on top.
UPDATED:
The frontrunner in the Arkansas GOP primary, John Boozman, has come out on top of a field of eight with more than 50% of the vote. That means there won't be a runoff on the GOP side, so our precious resources will be directed at cutting down the eventual Democratic challenger — not other Republicans.
