After Arizona Tragedy, Democrat Calls For Special Treatment...at the Airport?

In response to the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords, Rep. Clyburn has suggested that members of Congress should receive special treatment from the TSA.
“We’ve had some incidents where TSA authorities think that congresspeople should be treated like everybody else,” he said. “Well, the fact of the matter is, we are held to a higher standard in so many other areas, and I think we need to take a hard look at exactly how the TSA interact with members of Congress.”

As Jim Harper points out, airports are about as safe as it gets. The risk of a lawmaker being attacked at an airport is negligible. Clyburn's suggestion that TSA screenings somehow increase this risk sounds more like the Congressman trying to exempt himself from an unpleasant procedure than anything else.

In the meantime, a rape victim is arrested for refusing to let a TSA screener touch her breasts.
