State Department Spokesman: Yeah, "We Actually Expected" Some Released Gitmo Detainees to Return to Terrorism

Oh good:

Here we have a top US spokesman breezily admitting that the government *expected* recidivism from released Gitmo detainees.  How reassuring: Oh yes, we totally knew a bunch of these guys would return to terror after we let them go, so we weren't caught off guard when they did.

This is the same clown who cheered the triumph of the "rule of law" after an admitted terrorist was acquitted on 284 of 285 counts in civilian court last month.  Stephen Hayes asks the obvious question: If the Obama administration "expected" many ex-Gitmo detainees to return to jihad, why release them?

In addition to Katie's post below, be sure to read Hayes and his Weekly Standard colleague Thomas Jocelyn on the recidivism report.
