With Wednesday's vote for House minority leader nearing, The Washington Post, CBS News and Fox News reported Monday night that U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler had officially announced his “long-shot” bid to take the position from Nancy Pelosi. In TV interviews Sunday and Monday morning, Shuler reiterated that someone should challenge Pelosi and that he would bring a more moderate voice, but he never made his bid official.
On Monday night, The Washington Post quoted Shuler as saying “I'll be running.”
Most of Shuler's natural allies have been sent packing by voters, so his move is tantamount to making a point, and little more. Regardless of what his motives may be, and no matter how remote his chances are, Shuler must be stopped.
Eyes on the prize, folks. Remember the new GOP battle cry.
