When I think over all of the many conveniences of modern life for which I'm thankful, so much of it boils down to the fundamental awesomeness of free enterprise. One of the core requirements of a free society and economic prosperity is, of course, stable and well-defined property rights--a lesson that the early settlers learned the hard way.
