Naked and Afraid: Portland Protesters Strip Down to Oppose President Trump

Portland is at it again, this time protesting ICE enforcement operations and the Trump administration, with a nude bike ride. A scene that nobody should ever be forced to witness.

On Sunday, hundreds of protesters went nearly naked, or completely naked, as they called for an “emergency” edition of the city’s annual World Naked Bike Ride, normally held during the summer.

The protesters ended their bike ride by blocking the Burnside Bridge.

Rioters have taken over Portland in recent weeks in protest of ICE operations, and more recently of President Trump deploying National Guard to the city in order to quell the riots and bring down the crime rate. U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, blocked the deployment on October 5th, and the city is currently awaiting an official ruling.

However, in classic Portland fashion, the city’s activists have once again chosen spectacle over substance. Instead of meaningful advocacy, protesters stripped down and blocked traffic, turning a political demonstration into a circus act. While they claim to be standing up to ICE and the Trump administration, the result was less a statement of principle and more a display of chaos. One that perfectly captures Portland’s ongoing struggle to properly distinguish between a legitimate protest and a circus act.
